He has been active in several Masonic organizations. Maggio is a member of several organizations under the York Rite of Freemasonry. He is a member of Saint Paul’s Royal Arch Chapter, Orient Council of Royal and Select Master Masons, and Saint Bernard Commandery #12.

He also belongs to the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, as be became a 32° Mason in the Valley of Boston in 2003. On August 31, 2021, he received the honorary 33° at the Supreme Council of Scottish Rite Freemasonry Annual Session in Cleveland, OH. Maggio is also a Shriner, as a member of the Aleppo Temple in Wilmington, as well as the Massachusetts College of Societas Rosicruciana in Civitatibus Foederatis.

The Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts is the oldest Grand Lodge in the Western Hemisphere and the third oldest in the world. It was chartered in 1733, following the establishment of the Grand Lodge of England in 1717 and Ireland in 1725.

R.W. John F. Sullivan

R.W. John F. Sullivan, 2022 Deputy Grand Master

John Frederick Sullivan was installed Deputy Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts for 2022 . The Deputy Grand Master is the second highest ranking officer of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.

M.W. Richard Maggio, Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts and the presiding officer in the state, handpicked Sullivan to serve as Deputy Grand Master. He will assist the Grand Master and preside over the Grand Lodge during his absence for the next year. He is also the Grand Master ex officio should the Grand Master not be able to complete his term.

Sullivan, a native of Worcester, is Chief of the Brookline Fire Department. A position he has held since 2018. Prior to moving to the Brookline Fire Department, he served with the Worcester Fire Department beginning in 1987. He held several positions with the Fire Department, the final seven years as Deputy Chief – Operations Bureau. He lives in Worcester with his wife, Louise.

Brother Sullivan began his Masonic career in 2007 when he joined Worcester’s Morning Star Lodge. He held several junior officer positions, eventually serving as the Lodge’s Worshipful Master in 2015 and 2016.

In 2017 and 2018, Sullivan was District Deputy Grand Master of the Twenty-third Masonic District comprised of: Trinity Lodge, Clinton (chartered in 1778), Morning Star, Worcester (1793), Franklin Lodge, Grafton (1851), Quinsigamond Lodge, Worcester (1870), Boylston Lodge, West Boylston (1876), Matthew John Whittall Lodge, Shrewsbury (1928), and Level Lodge, Shrewsbury (1952)

In 2020, he received the Joseph Warren Medal for Distinguished Service. Named for the Patriot killed during the Battle of Bunker Hill, Warren was the presiding Grand Master at the time of his death. The medal recognizes exceptional service at the lodge level. The Grand Master confers the award on the recommendation of the lodge Master. In 2022, he was the recipient of the Henry Price Medal.

Active in several Masonic organizations, Sullivan is a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, and was the presiding officer of the Lawrence Chapter of Rose Croix, Worcester, between 2012 and 2014. He was awarded the honorary 33° in 2017 at the Annual Session of the Supreme Council of Scottish Rite Freemasonry in Rochester, NY. He belongs to the York Rite’s Eureka Royal Arch Chapter, Worcester, Hiram Council of Royal and Select Master Masons, Worcester, and St. Bernard Commandery #12, Knights Templar, Boston. He is an Aleppo Shriner, Wilmington. Sullivan is also a charter member of The Lodge of the Royal Secret, Boston, an honorary member of Franklin Lodge and Trinity Lodge, and an affiliate member of The Master’s Lodge, Needham.

R.W. Albert C. Hopper III

R.W. Albert C. Hopper II, District Grand Master

Albert Currie Hopper III is the 28th Panama Canal District Grand Master having been selected by M.W. Richard Maggio for the position. In his role, he represents the Grand Master in the Republic of Panama and the Republic of Chile on all Masonic matters. He was installed on December 27, 2019 and will serve three, one-year terms.

A native of Providence, RI, he spent 20 years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. serving as a Microwave Systems Engineer; Instructor at the US Army Signal School Basic and Advanced Communication systems; served as Frequency Manager with Information Security Command; and Project Manager for the Base Realignment Committee. He lives in Panama City with his wife, Cristina. They are parents of Carlito, Karla, Alejandro, Albert IV, James, and David.

Brother Hopper was raised in St. Petersburg Lodge No. 139, St. Petersburg, FL. He affiliated with Ancon Lodge, Panama City, Panama in 2007. He also belong to Sojourners Lodge, Panama City, and William Sutton Lodge, Saugus, MA. He was the Worshipful Master of Ancon Lodge in 2011 and Sojourners Lodge in 2012.

The District Grand Master oversees Ancon Lodge, Eloy Alfaro Lodge, Gatun Lodge, and Sojourners Lodge in Panama, and Bethesda Lodge, Huelen Lodge, and Saint John’s Lodge in Chile.

In 2015, he received the Joseph Warren Distinguished Service Medal.

Brother Hopper is a member of St. Petersburg No. 31 Royal Arch Chapter, St. Petersburg No. 14 Council of of Royal and Select Master Masons, and Sunshine Commandery No. 20, Knights Templar.

R.W. Glenn L. Kubick

Glenn L. Kubick, 2022 Senior Grand Warden

Glenn Lawrence Kubick of Needham was installed Senior Grand Warden for 2022. Senior Grand Warden is the second highest elected officer of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.

Kubick was elected at the Grand Lodge Annual Communication on Wednesday, December 10, 2021. As Senior Grand Warden, he will assist Richard Maggio, Grand Master and the presiding officer in the state, for the coming year. He also serves as Grand Master Pro Tempore in the absence of the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master.

A native of Dedham, Kubick graduated from Bentley College. He retired from Destination XL Group, Canton, where he worked as a computer programmer and business analyst.

Brother began his Masonic career when he was initiated in Constellation Lodge, Dedham, in 1984. He served as the Worshipful Master in 1989. In 2019, he was Master of Celestial Lodge, Westwood.

In 2015 and 2016, Kubick was District Deputy Grand Master of the Sixth Masonic District, comprised of the following lodges: Union Lodge (chartered in 1796 by Paul Revere, Grand Master of Masons between 1795 and 1797), Norwood; Orient Lodge (1861), Norwood; Lafayette-Dover Lodge (1865), Norwood; Celestial Lodge (1866), Westwood; Rabboni Lodge (1869), Westwood; Prospect Lodge (1890), Westwood; and, West Roxbury-Dorchester Lodge (1912).

In 2016, he received the Joseph Warren Medal for Distinguished Service. He has also received the Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award recognizing outstanding contributions by a Mason to the Boy Scouts of America.

Brother Kubick was appointed a Grand Lecturer in 2017 and served in that role until the installation as Senior Grand Warden. The Grand Lecturers exemplify the work and lectures of the Masonic ritual and ceremonies and give instructions to the members about the proper conferral.

R.W. Russell E. Lowe

R.W. Russell E. Lowe, 2022 Junior Grand Warden

R.W. Russell Edwin Lowe was installed Junior Grand Warden for 2022. Junior Grand Warden is the third highest elected officer of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.

As Junior Grand Warden, Lowe will assist Richard Maggio for the coming year. He also serves as Grand Master Pro Tempore in the absence of the Grand Master, Deputy Grand Master, and Senior Grand Warden.

Lowe, a native of Nashua, NH, attended the University of New Hampshire. He is a Manager of Market Development for Gurtler Industries Inc. He lives in Fitchburg with his wife, Sarah Tipton-Lowe. He is the father of Brother Ryan P. Lowe, Worcester, and Rebecca T. Lowe, Clinton.

Brother Lowe was initiated in Ancient York Lodge No. 89, Nashua, NH. He affiliated with Joel H. Prouty Lodge, Auburn, in 1986. He served as Worshipful Master of Joel H. Prouty Lodge in 1993. The following year he was installed as the Lodge’s Secretary, a position he held for 24 years. Since 2018 he has been their Assistant Secretary. In 2014 he was named “Lodge Secretary of the Year” by the staff of the Grand Secretary’s Office.

In 20o1 and 2002, Lowe was District Deputy Grand Master of the Worcester 22nd District with the following Lodges: Olive Branch Lodge, Millbury (chartered in 1797 by Paul Revere); Franklin Lodge, Grafton (1851); Montacute Lodge, Worcester (1858); Athelstan Lodge, Worcester (1865); Quinsigamond Lodge, Worcester (1870); Boylston Lodge, West Boylston (1876); Joel H. Prouty Lodge, Auburn (1927); Matthew John Whittall Lodge (1928), Shrewsbury; and, Level Lodge, Worcester (1952). He joined the District Deputy Grand Master Resource Team in 2005. From 2008 through 2016 he was Chairman, and Co-chair in 2017 and 2018.

Brother Lowe received the Joseph Warren Medal for Distinguished Service in 2018.
